January 6th: Now its clear why the GOP didn't want to investigate

Every other day more revelations on the action of the President and of the United States become more incredible.  One thing, so far there is no direct evidence implicating Trump, but he's really close and behind a lot of the events, to say that "Mike Pence deserves it" when the demonstrators were chanting "Hang Pence" tells you only the Trump is at best a Sociopath and at worse a psychopath. One thing for certain is that between November 4th and January 20th the American Republic came close to ending, and its almost certain that the GOP, when they retake power, after the mid term elections will do almost anything to hide their activities, especially the likes of Jordan and certain other.  Now what emerged is that several members of Congress had visitors prior to the events of the 6th of January and they were actively taking pictures...which is illegal in the Capitol. Now all this could be nothing but so far it seems that there was a high level of preparedness a...

January 6th -- FOX News uninterested in these events

During Thursday’s hearings, host Tucker Carlson broadcast an hour-long, commercial-free discussion of alternative interpretations of the deadly riot, including that it had been instigated by FBI agents. Yes because that's the right's view of the world, deadly shooting -- never happened its the deepfake state that is creating these events to get our guns.  The fun loving peaceful demonstation of Jan 6th...well ok some people may have died but they are all FBI/CIA plants and everyone arrested so far is a CIA/FBI plant. That's the game, deny reality because it doesn't conform with your world view  Images can be faked, there was no riot it was fixed ahead of time. HOW do you create a national discussion when such a large precentage of the audience denies reality. Yesterday Mike Pence said that Biden was the biggest ever liar!  Far worse than Trump...go figure why Pence is still supporting Trump is beyond understanding. The denial of reality will have serious consequence wit...

Politics in the USA -- via PBS Vs. ex-politicians in Canada

My guilty pleasure is listening to PBS radio on my drive to and from the cottage, think of right-wing talk radio with a leftist tinge. So this morning I was driving back to the city and was listening to two candidates for some post in Vermont; where first, the GOP candidate for the post spoke and then the Democrat's; the first was a woman that was talking about unemployment and how costly it is to the economy for all those people that don't pay taxes; now the national average for unemployment is 3.1%, for Vermont, it's 2.2% which is very low.  She said that Vermont was doing poorly compared to the "Southwest" which I presume was either Texas (3.9%) or Arizona (3.3%).  In her opinion, these states were doing so much better because of their low unemployment yet they had 77% and 50% higher unemployment than Vermont.  Then the other guy came on -- his solution was to start a Peace Corp (yes it already exists) to stimulate the construction industry, and that this wou...

Why am I always wrong?

So; DB didn't go bust (2019), Bitcoin went to $60,000 (2020) Italy is still in the EU (2019), Boeing didn't go bust (2020), Greece is still in the EU (2016), Canada House prices are too high (2017)? These are some of my comments.  On the Deutsch Bank front, I will say that the world of finance has been supported by the printing of money and the ability of banks, such as DB to refinance their obligation.  Fast money has kept them in the business, although it came close a few times and some very profitable businesses (its asset management business).  So DB was able to sell some very attractive businesses to reshape its future, and it had a good three years, stories are that its balance sheet is in much better shape today.  However, its share price is still far lower than in 2018, it's off by 30% while the CAC40 is up about 20% over the same period.  So DB didn't go bust but sold its asset management business to stay alive. Bitcoin I got completely wrong, it ...
