Celebrating the agreement to increase the debt ceiling is a little like someone suffering from cancer, whose house is on fire, while there's a shoot-out between gangsters and the cops outside, finding an empty wallet... [From Foreign Policy Magazine]
Lets no forget that the agreement does nothing for the economy, since for the past two weeks the U.S. government (White House & Congress) has been negotiating an agreement on America continuing to pay the interest on its debt.
Now that's what I call a breakdown of government.
BTW, Congress spent two whole days debating the "Return of the incandescent light bulb" something Congress has unanimously agreed to in 2005 (Yes of course this was during a Republican administration...). Moreover, Congress has basically shut down the FAA.
Canada was on holiday yesterday, so no news (especially since its the August doldrums up here)
