Harry and Megan the saga continues

Did you hear that a largely unknown member of the Royal family "knows" that Harry will soon divorce! So is the state of news, of course, Harry and Megan just sold the movie rights to "The Spare" for a large figure so they must be in real turmoil, and of course, the Daily Mail continues to state that Harry and Megan are soon to return to the UK...clearly the sunny weather of California is too much for the ex-Royals.

I suggest that not a morning goes by when Harry and Megan don't contemplate how good their lives are now that they are out of the Royal family.  Granted, at some level their fame is largely caused by their "royal" status, but again it's not like Harry chose that life, it was thrust upon him by birth.  Harry and Megan are set for life money-wise and are enjoying the next stage of their lives as confirmed outsiders to the Royal Family.

Leste we forget, that both Harry and Megan have toxic families.  Megan has been on the outs with her entire family for some years now, and it must be sad to contemplate that neither set of grandparents will be part of their children's lives, but so it is with dysfunctional families.  At one level, Harry probably misses parts of his family or at least specific events inside the family, but overall, and his book is clear on the subject, his role in the family was always that of the spare for whatever his brother may need...it was made clear to Harry that that was his only role.  That colors one's perspective, especially now that he he's fifth in line for the throne...he has no role in the royal family, the only role he had, he no longer holds.

It is amazing how much UK print space is devoted to Harry and Megan, who seem to live mostly out of the limelight.  What is interesting about these articles is there are no quotes from Harry or Megan, it's about their "role" in the Royal saga.  An amazing situation, considering that Harry and Megan no longer have a house in the UK, they gave up Frogmore Cottage (a nine-bedroom mansion) at the request of the King, who recently terminated the couple's lease of the property.

They don't speak to the press, which is hardly surprising considering how they have been treated.  There are no quotes attributed to them, and even these are not reported because it's not about them or their lives. The Daily Mail for the coronation just made stuff up showing images of a private jet on which Harry had flown into the UK (when in fact he flew on a commercial flight).

I suspect that for the British tabloids, Harry and Megan's worse crime is their indifference.  When Harry went to the coronation he had a visible smile on his face, he looked like a guy who didn't have a care in the world and was there entirely for the show.  He made eye contact and greeted people, as he walked by but made no effort to chat.  When he was waiting for his car at the end of the show, he was alone and appeared to be generally satisfied.  This could be for show, still that's the image he left.

Harry is rumored to have "spoken" to his aunt at the coronation, but if you watch these are simple greetings!  Hardly the heart-to-heart that the British press would love.  No, the British Press is pissed because he's completely indifferent and is taking the tabloid to court to further hurt their already poor reputation.  So is life, because most people can deal with love or hate, but indifference is the killer.  The British Royal family and the Tabloids are finding the going difficult because Harry clearly no longer engages with them at any level.

When the Royal family made it clear that Harry alone was invited to the coronation and only the coronation, he took it in stride, when they portrayed him as disloyal when he left right after the show, it was evident that he was completely indifferent.  He saw a few people he liked, and that's that.  He was there for his father and fulfilled his filial duties.  If anything King Charles should be happy since Harrry costs nothing to the British crown.

He's out and gone!

Ok so I lied...a little (revised)

When we began looking at farming in 2013/14 as something we both wanted to do as a "second career" we invested time and money to understand what sector of farming was profitable.  A few things emerged, First, high-quality, source-proven, organic farm products consistently have much higher profit margins.  Secondly, transformation accounted for nearly 80% of total profits, and production and distribution accounted for 20% of profits: Farmers and retailers have low profit margins and the middle bits make all the money. A profitable farm operation needs to be involved in the transformation of its produce.  The low-hanging fruits: cheese and butter.  Milk, generates a profit margin of 5% to 8%, depending on milk quality.  Transformed into cheese and butter, and the profit margin rises to 40% (Taking into account all costs).  Second:  20% of a steer carcass is ground beef quality.  The price is low, because (a) a high percentage of the carcass, and (b) ground beef requires process

21st century milk parlour

When we first looked at building our farm in 2018, we made a few money-saving decisions, the most important is that we purchased our milk herd from a retiring farmer and we also purchased his milking parlour equipment.  It was the right decision at the time.  The equipment dates from around 2004/05 and was perfectly serviceable, our installers replaced some tubing but otherwise, the milking parlour was in good shape.  It is a mature technology. Now, we are building a brand new milk parlour because our milking cows are moving from the old farm to the new farm.  So we are looking at brand new equipment this time because, after 20 years of daily service, the old cattle parlour's systems need to be replaced.  Fear not it will not be destroyed instead good chunks will end up on Facebook's marketplace and be sold to other farmers for spare parts or expansion of their current systems. All our cattle are chipped, nothing unusual there, we have sensors throughout the farm, and our milki

So we sold surplus electricity one time last summer...(Update)

I guess that we will be buying an additional tank for our methane after all.   Over the past few months, we've had several electricity utilities/distributors which operate in our region come to the farm to "inspect our power plant facilities, to ensure they conform to their requirements".  This is entirely my fault.  Last summer we were accumulating too much methane for our tankage capacity, and so instead of selling the excess gas, that would have cost us some money, we (and I mean me) decided to produce excess electricity and sell it to the grid.  Because of all the rules and regulations, we had to specify our overall capacity and timing for the sale of electricity (our capacity is almost 200 Kw) which is a lot but more importantly, it's available 24/7, because it's gas powered.  It should be noted that the two generators are large because we burn methane and smaller generators are difficult to adapt to burn unconventional gas, plus they are advanced and can &qu
