2024 Ford EV vehicles will soon have Tesla ports installed instead of the current standard they use. This is a major coup for Ford, because of the extent, reliability, and convenience of the Tesla charging stations. For Tesla, it means that the US's two largest EV manufacturers will be using a common standard, which will probably force the other to adopt Tesla's port standard (in addition, Tesla has the highest number of high voltage charging stations -- by a magnitude).
Ford, gets access to what is the most reliable charging network, Tesla gets extra cash from the US government and basically "imposes its charge port standard" on other EV charging networks. There are currently about 30,000 charge station, of which 6,000 are Tesla.
