Belgorod: Changing the nature of the Ukraine war

Ukrainians have begun shelling and destroying key military targets in the city of Belgorod, one of the two logistical centres in Russia (near the border with Ukraine) for deploying men and ammunition into the Ukrainian war.

This is the first time that Ukrainian forces have been authorized to use Western weapons to target the enemy's key logistical support centre that had been central to the war in the northwest of the country.   The change has been long in coming, the French have for some time been directly present in the conflict, but it is the new message from the Kremlin that has begun to resonate in the European capitals that has hastened the shift that was always necessary for the war to be resolved in favour of Ukraine.

The new message from the Kremlin, so far via its "mouthpieces" is that Russia could soon start targeting Europe itself.   Therefore, European leaders have authorized the use of their weapons on Belgorod.  Tactically, the Russian forces attacking in the Northwest are seeing their supply lines begin to falter, this will certainly lead to a massive Ukrainian ground attack that will kill tens of thousands of Russian troops (far worse than the 5/6:1 that is currently being observed).

This is both a game changer and an escalation in the Russo-European war that is the natural conclusion of Putin's 20 years of aggression and nine successive wars to recover Soviet-era territories.   The immediate impact is to force Russia to dramatically increase the protection around Belgorod, and disperse its ammunition and fuel depots.   Because after two years of war, the Ukrainian high command knows exactly where all the key installations in Belgorod are located.  In addition, it will degrade all Russian activities in the area during the summer offensive.

Strategically, Russia will have to consider the position of Rostov-on-don its southeast and probably even more important military hub which provides the Russian armed forces the logistical support in the Ukraine war.   Now, Rostov-on-don is still too far from the front for Ukrainian ammunition to reach the city (European ammunition) but the Ukrainians have an accurate breakdown of where ammunition, fuel, equipment and key strategic installations are located, and this situation may change as the Russian army is forced to move men and equipment towards the Northwest front to support the Russian's key summer offensive into Kharkiv (Ukraine's second largest city).

Ukraine has been fighting the war with a prohibition from the Europeans and Americans that they, not shell or fight the war into Russian territory.   For the past month, Russian media has been discussing the possibility of Russia attacking European countries because of their support of Ukraine.   Everything in Russian media has been scripted by the Kremlin, the Kremlin controls all Russian media.

The Europeans have taken the threat more seriously and have given the Ukrainians the go-ahead.

Ok so I lied...a little (revised)

When we began looking at farming in 2013/14 as something we both wanted to do as a "second career" we invested time and money to understand what sector of farming was profitable.  A few things emerged, First, high-quality, source-proven, organic farm products consistently have much higher profit margins.  Secondly, transformation accounted for nearly 80% of total profits, and production and distribution accounted for 20% of profits: Farmers and retailers have low profit margins and the middle bits make all the money. A profitable farm operation needs to be involved in the transformation of its produce.  The low-hanging fruits: cheese and butter.  Milk, generates a profit margin of 5% to 8%, depending on milk quality.  Transformed into cheese and butter, and the profit margin rises to 40% (Taking into account all costs).  Second:  20% of a steer carcass is ground beef quality.  The price is low, because (a) a high percentage of the carcass, and (b) ground beef requires process

JD Vance -- Buyer's remorse (update)

Senator Vance like all human beings is a complex person.   He wrote a powerful book that was even turned into an excellent movie.  His "memoir" Hillbilly Elegy talks about a man who grew up in some level of poverty -- not exactly true, but then who cares, it was still an excellent book.    Being the running mate of Donald Trump cannot be easy, first and foremost President Trump is nuts and lazy.  It has been reported from several sources that one of his ideas was to create a 2,000-mile moat between Mexico and the US and fill it with snakes and crocodiles -- -not kidding here!  The bleach against Covid, there was a lot.  Not only has been proven to be ignorant he is also famous for doing absolutely nothing.   Senator Vance brought two things to the ticket Ohio (a swing state) and youth.  He is not 40 yet.   He was a great "anti-age" foil against Biden and to an extent Trump who is not a young man either, at 78.    However, part of the problem is that Senator Vance li

Spray painting Taylor Swift G650 aircraft (updated)

First, a bit of paint will not harm anyone.  These climate activities are going to learn two things in the next few days:  (1) Trespassing at an airport is a felony almost anywhere in the world.  That means criminal prosecution.   (2) removing paint from an aircraft is expensive.   So these climate activists are about to find out the reach of the British criminal system and it will not be pleasant, the UK has very strict laws about that, I would be surprised if cleaning the aircraft of all the paint will cost less than $100,000.     I am sure that when they planned (premeditation) this little show they had a very valid logic to doing this.  Tonight, they are probably realizing the depth of their troubles.   I understand that in the UK it's a minimum one-year jail sentence.    Also, good luck travelling with a criminal trespass charge against you.  I am relatively certain that the airline industry will slap them with no-fly status. Update;  It seems that what they threw on the airc
