Our eldest son is now married! Their flight to Morocco takes off tomorrow afternoon. As the festivities had started at 3, the adults retired around 9 pm. My wife and I left the ballroom. Adam stayed with all his friends and the younger guests,Jilian left the party at 9 as she is in her first trimester.
The chef did a marvellous job, thank you Marcus for your hard work and that of your team. As I told Marcus, I've got another three to go!
My parents died many years ago, they were older. My wife's parents were at the chapel but they are in poor health and their driver took them back home right after the service (they live about 30 minutes away). Jilian has one set of grandparents, they are staying with us, and they really were the life of the party. Jilian's grandfather made a very funny speech; in the early 1980s, he was a very well-known comedian and is still immediately recognizable. It was nice to have my siblings there too. They are far older than me, they were teenagers when I was born. It was nice seeing them again because it is so rare, they both moved to the continent almost forty years ago.
My siblings, Roger, our wives and Jilian's grandparents all joined together in my study to toast Adam and Jilian on this successful day. Considering that the planning for the wedding started less than 72 hours ago.
Between the ceremony and the dinner there was a two-hour break (we had tea prepared in a large, heated marquis) that everyone enjoyed. There were seats and everything and a small sandwich and other nibbles. I on the other hand went to the new farm with our manager to inspect the foundation forms...they are pouring concrete early tomorrow. It was our last chance to inspect the work, the builder was there with us, a nice young fellow who took over his father's construction business. He looks 15, but he sounds competent and the work was perfect. Just before Christmas, we decided to add in-floor heating, it would be cheaper and more efficient, this young man was able to revise the plans, staff the project and finish the work ahead of schedule, impressive.
A perfect day
