What makes Donald J Trump great?
Simply, he revealed the true nature of most leading lights of the Republican party machine. Grift is at the core of the GOP's identity. Improbable leaders rise and fall in quick succession and every single one of them was exposed by Trump's own massive grift as grifters themselves. Every day in court, revelations about others almost overshdows Trump's own grift.
There is no conviction there is only the money at the end of the rainbow, they just need to hold their nose from the stench one more week. Of course, you realize that their entire career are built on this. Does anyone anywhere now believe that Rudy Giuliani was ever "American's mayor", but really simply another small man who was able to seize an opportunity and ride the dragon for every single dime. No moral just money.
I would like to believe that the Tories are/were different. However, now that my eyes and heart have wandered away from that world, I often see those politicians as simple grifters. For what it's worth you see the real dedicated soldiers of democracy inside the Conservative Party, but they never last, the stench quickly becomes too much for them to remain, and so they leave quietly because in their hearts their entire moral and political construct has been demolished. Instead, we end up with Liz Truss's facsimiles. You know that she will say anything or do anything to get up to the top of the greasy pole.
Before I entirely condemn the Conservative Party, I should also state that we get the politicians were deserve. For all her faults Margarette Tatcher was entirely driven by her conservative thinking, and she died with here reputation intact (you may loath her, but she had principles), the new breed not so much, because in this day of manufactured outrage and five minute all or nothing politi, there's no point. The entire Palestinian/Gaza thing will eventually die because dedication to a cause takes energy, will and time, and most of us have only so much time and energy. After Gaza there will be other causes that require the politi's immidate and total devotion and focus to exclusion of everything else. it is the nature of the beast.
Trump has exposed the GOPs ugly underbelly, and it may never recover. The party's current funding problem are a real demonstration of the weakness of the brand. Those with money now understand that giving the GOP money will not lead to any real policy shift/benefits. It is entirely driven by the grifter's own quest for the money at the end of the rainbow.
