Over the past few months, I have mentioned my somewhat royalist outlook. I liked the Queen, and think that King Charles has some good qualities as a sovereign, but there are several things that I find questionable.
I think that Andrew is King Charles' kryptonite (hey I grew up on cartoons too). Let's be clear, right now the royal family seems more supportive of a pedophile than a guy who married a "black woman" (get the hint right!).
This is not only true of the Royal family it's also true of the British press. Certain segments (mostly to the right) have taken a rather uncalled position vis-a-vis Harry and Megan and yet seem to give a pass to Prince Andrew.
It is impossible that King Charles was not aware of the extent of Andrew's problems. Although from listening to Andrew's ex-wife it seems that, she at least, was not aware of the extent of her ex-husband's predilection. It seems that he was able to successfully lie to his ex and probably his children. But the King would have been informed through unofficial channels (the relationship between the US and the UK is too close for the unvarnished truth not having made it to our shores). It is also more than likely that the British government was made aware of Andrew's actions.
Despite all this, the King continues to support his brother in public. That Andrew was so publicly around during the Christmas break surprised me, and gave a very strange vibe in the English countryside. I want to mention this because of the comment we heard as we left church this morning. First, there are several articles in the Sunday broadsheet about Epstein and Andrew and even visits by Epstein to the United Kingdom apparently with the objective of "spending time with the royal family". I have no idea if this is true, if it was simply a desire by Epstein and his right-hand woman Gislaine Maxwell (yes the daughter of the infamous Bob Maxwell).
As they say, this cannot be good.
