Who to support in the next election

 So this is my wish list for voting in the next general election (that should occur this year)

#1:  Not the Conservative!:  I mean unless something incredible happens, they are responsible for most of the UK's problems in the past decade (Cameron came to power in the spring of 2010).  After 14 years the party needs a walk on the wild side to find new blood.  Plus what will be their campaign slogan:  Let us repair what we broke...come on give us another chance!

#2:  Focus on the UK's problems that are important to the nation's future.  It should be made clear that returning to the EU is simply not possible right now, even if it was desirable, we need the hate to calm down.  Also, let's not forget that Norway is outside of the EU, we should focus on that type of relationship (granted they've still got a lot of oil and gas as a bargaining chip)

#3: Energy policy: Let's not do a Germany, before we are forced to return to coal for electricity we need to find domestic energy supplies to ensure our country's future.  Germany abdicated its responsibility by buying Russian gas (of course Russia would use this export as a political tool).  Let's think through a serious energy policy.  The green's position is simply ridiculous, and they should be called on it.

#4: Immigration is a critical issue socially and economically.  We have a rare opportunity to attract the right kind of legal immigrants.  Let's think about that.  

#5:  NHS has served the country well, but it has been starved of resources.  However, there is infinite demand for a totally free good (healthcare), and the UK has to start thinking about how to rephrase the relationship between healthcare and the population.

#6:  Military:  The United Kingdom has maintained a strong and independent Navy and Air Force, although like the French we work closely with the Americans.  We need to rethink the role of our Navy in a new multipolar world, as the Americans, withdraw their global security blanket.  

Based on the above, it's either the Liberals or labour; so either a Trotskyite or an egghead.  Honestly, I think that Ed Davey may be a good Prime Minister, but it's always hard to say because he's been part of the Liberal Democrats think tanks.  It's not at all clear that he's got the chops to do the hard job of being Prime Minister.  As for Keir Starmer well he's part of the Labour Party's far-left heritage, so there's that.  The question with him is will he be able to meet the massive challenges that our country faces, in a post-pax-Americana world.  On the bright side, the far left of Labour has had a rather unpleasant decade with their Russian idols screwing the pooch in a rather spectacular way.    Projections indicate a 93% probability that Labour will be the bunch in charge after the next general elections (Libs stand at 6% and Tories at 1%).  

Labour cannot easily raise taxes on the rich, the UK tax rate is already rather high compared to the OECD average.  The UK's largest trading partners are in order the US (machinery and pharma),  Germany (auto and aircraft), and the Netherlands (refined energy).  Yes, it is a gross oversimplification, but it is true enough for policy.

Trade discussions to reset the trade relationship between the EU and the UK should be of primary concern.  Not sexy but very important.  Energy and healthcare policies each need a road map.  When Sunak "banned" shale oil and gas in less than 72 hours NO ONE wondered what's the alternative.  Unserious, and additional proof that the Tories really don't deserve to be in power.  If you are going to lose anyway, then make policies that help the country and not your feeble unrealistic political dreams.  

Note:  Jesus it's been like 10 minutes.  I don't care if you like the Tories and that Brexit is not their fault.  I don't care that you think that Brexit was the greatest thing ever.  and I don't care that I should support the Libs because labour will "kill the country".  Get away from me!

Note2: By the "right kind of migrants", I don't mean white, I mean migrants that will help the UK, and not just political migrants.  I get it, using the "right kind" without context may make it sound a specific way.  I mean bringing people to the UK who want to come here for a better life and have a lot to offer.  These kinds of migrants.

Spray painting Taylor Swift G650 aircraft (updated)

 First, a bit of paint will not harm anyone.  These climate activities are going to learn two things in the next few days:  (1) Trespassing at an airport is a felony almost anywhere in the world.  That means criminal prosecution.   (2) removing paint from an aircraft is expensive.   So these climate activists are about to find out the reach of the British criminal system and it will not be pleasant, the UK has very strict laws about that, I would be surprised if cleaning the aircraft of all the paint will cost less than $100,000.     I am sure that when they planned (premeditation) this little show they had a very valid logic to doing this.  Tonight, they are probably realizing the depth of their troubles.   I understand that in the UK it's a minimum one-year jail sentence.    Also, good luck travelling with a criminal trespass charge against you.  I am relatively certain that the airline industry will ...

Janet Yellen from China supporter to Hawk...

There is rarely serious news in the world these days, it seems that most newspapers are filled with headlines and little else, and then Ms Yellen went to China.  Secretary Yellen has long been known in the Biden administration as the voice of moderation when dealing with China, yet as her trip which concluded yesterday a hawk was born:  She warned the Chinese against dumping goods in the United States.    fighting words!
