As part of my world tour, not really, I landed in Las Vegas two days ago. Here is a meeting that I am attending as a favour to my old employer. The city is unchanged from my last visit a decade ago, the hotels are different and there's the Sphere now, an IMAX on steroids. But I was there for meetings. I landed late. The first morning I had an early breakfast and went for a walk, but did not last long, it was not even 8 in the morning and it was already too hot. At 2 pm the thermostat was showing 119, to the rest of the planet that's 48c -- the temperature of a Swedish sauna.
You know things are not normal when the locals talk about it. Thankfully my stay was short, but in the back of my mind, I wondered how people could stand such temperatures. Needless to say that the discussion about climate change is absolutely forbidden in polite American society.
Anyway I was not there to create a fight, just for a few meetings on my way home, which will occur the day after tomorrow. Home for the weekend!
